But seriously, like I discussed here, the Gomez contract will be appealing to teams looking to reach the cap floor in the next two seasons. It’s become even more appealing since I wrote that post. Any team who takes him will have to pay out $10 million for his actually salary but it will take up $14.714 million in cap space for the final 2 years of his contract. I doubt it’ll happen at the deadline but this summer a number of penny pinching teams will want a contract like that to save a few million dollars.
